Bush Wackers 6-5 Victors Over River Chiefs
|
The Brisbane Bush Wackers dealt the Chippewa River Chiefs a 6-5 loss at Baylor Ballpark. Jean Mendes was 1 for 3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Shane Atmore, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-4. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 6 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 7. Rich Encarnacion picked up the save for Brisbane, his 1st of the year.
Victor Herbert had a key at-bat with one out in the bottom of the fifth for Brisbane. With the bases loaded and the Bush Wackers leading 5-4, he hit a sacrifice fly.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Mendes.
Chippewa, now 2-10, has gotten off to a terrible start.
