The Carmel Apples earned a win at BLM Stadium, knocking off the Eugene Emeralds, 6-3. On the bump for Carmel was right-hander Lorenzo Ledesma. He had a starring role in the triumph. Eugene falls to 5-6.

Carlos Polanco took Eugene hurler Steve Martel deep in the bottom of the second. His 3-run home run put the Apples on top, 4-1. In all, Polanco had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

Polanco called the win "what playing unselfish baseball looks like."
