Saints Handle Panthers, 14-4
|
The St. Paul Saints took on the Charleston Panthers at Saints Ballpark.
Good production from right fielder Cruz Martinez helped the St. Paul Saints topple the Charleston Panthers, 14-4. Martinez was 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for the Saints. The Saints, with only their 7th win in 26 games, could be the worst team in the league.
Pat May had a big 2-run double for the Saints in the bottom of the second inning. With St. Paul leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a sinker from Mike Barrio, who is rated as the 64th best prospect by BNN, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Saints ahead, 3-0.
"We didn't pitch good, and when you don't pitch good, you lose," said Charleston manager Harry Howell.
