Ismael Yepez left his imprint on the 4-2 St. Petersburg win against the Brisbane Bush Wackers. Yepez, who is tied for 7th in the RHA in total bases with 57, went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Kai-shek Yang got the win, improving to 1-4. He held the Bush Wackers to 1 run on 5 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 5. The Bush Wackers, now 8-17 this season, have struggled to play .500 ball.
St. Petersburg used a well-timed hit by Willie Moya to capture the win. The center fielder socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Pelicans ahead, 4-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
After the game, St. Petersburg manager Gilbert Drader applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
