Civics Losers, 4-1, to Charleston
|
Charleston pitcher Dave Kavanagh had a large part in his team subduing the Ottawa Civics, 4-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Kavanagh, now 1-1, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing no runs. With the loss, Ottawa is 8-15.
The outcome was still in doubt with two out in the top of the third inning, but Kavanagh was able to pitch out of a jam. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and Ottawa trailing 2-0, Kavanagh retired Esteban Gonzalez, who flied out.
