5-3 Sting Win over Birdwings Evens Season Record
|
Thanks in large part to designated hitter Todd Frank, the Houston Sting beat the Hazleton Birdwings, 5-3. Frank went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Houston reliever Efrain Padilla picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Antonio Pena absorbed the loss. Carey Leblanc closed out the game, earning his 6th save.
With the game tied, 3-3, in the bottom of the seventh, Frank had a key at-bat for Houston. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Frank hit a run-scoring single off Antonio Pena, making the score 4-3, Sting.
"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Frank told the Houston Observer. "But we take nothing for granted."
The 5th-place Sting are 17-17.
