River Bandits Squeeze Out Win in Pitching Duel
|
San Antonio River Bandits starter Alex Torres turned in a sterling performance against the San Angelo Mustangs, leading his team to a slim, 1-0 win. Torres got the win, improving to 2-0. He gave up 5 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. He allowed no runs. The victory gives the River Bandits a record of 22-12.
San Antonio third baseman Willie Castillo contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a splitter to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 23rd hit of the season and put the River Bandits ahead, 1-0.
"Alex did a good job of managing their lineup," said San Antonio manager Lemn Onkwani.
