San Antonio Loss Tarnishes Fine Game by Contreras
The Houston Sting weathered a fine game by San Antonio designated hitter Ricky Contreras to upend the River Bandits, 10-8, at Dr Pepper Stadium. Contreras hit 2 home runs. He scored 4 times and drove in 3. Jorge Aceves, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-0. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 6 innings. Nelson Zermeno, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.

Tony Coleman, who is tied for 6th in the RA in home runs with 11, helped out the Houston cause in the top of the second inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the third baseman was 1 for 4 with a walk.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Coleman, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."

Houston has run its win streak to 4 straight.
