|
Carmel and West Virginia engaged in a slugfest.
The Carmel Apples beat the West Virginia Dancin' Outlaws in a game featuring much hitting but not much pitching. The final score was 13-10, Apples. One of the hitting stars was shortstop Ryan Schneck. Schneck went 1 for 4 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Carmel reliever Ethan White was the winner. His record is now 4-2. The losing pitcher was Danny Rodriges. Jeff Gamble closed it out for his 3rd save.
In the top of the second, Carmel first baseman Dominique Comte had a run-producing at-bat. Facing West Virginia hurler Danny Rodriges, Comte drew a walk, driving in 1 run. That made the score 2-0, Carmel. For the day, Comte drew 1 walk in 5 trips to the plate. He scored 2 runs.
West Virginia manager Guy de Kleijn said he was disappointed with the loss. "Whenever you score in double digits, you expect to win the game."
