Streaking Apples Win Another One, 11-7
|
The Carmel Apples bested the San Antonio River Bandits by a score of 11-7, with right fielder Chris Hendricks getting the main credit. On the day, Hendricks was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 3 times for the Apples. The winner in relief was Nick Fortenberry. He is now 4-2. The right-hander allowed 5 runs on 7 hits in 5.1 innings. Bobby Jones earned the save, his 12th.
Carmel used a timely hit from Ryan Schneck to get the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Apples ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Carmel manager Hi-yuan Pan.
Carmel, now 28-8, has stretched its winning streak to 10 games.
