Kelly Helps Civics Defeat Lake Monsters, 13-10
|
Shawn Kelly put on a hitting clinic in helping Ottawa beat Okanagan, 13-10. Kelly had 2 singles and 2 doubles for the Civics. He also scored 2 runs and knocked in 5. Greg Pond recorded the save, his 12th. Ottawa now sits at 29-15, while Okanagan falls to 21-23.
Sam Spurr had a big 2-run triple for the Civics in the bottom of the first inning. With Ottawa leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a curveball from 22-year old left-handed pitcher Elijah Murphy and swatted a triple to right. It was his 3rd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Civics ahead, 3-0.
"We came out with clear minds and swung the bats well," said Ottawa manager Eduardo Rosário.
