San Antonio Roughed Up By Apples
The Carmel Apples pinned a convincing loss on the San Antonio River Bandits, 12-3, at Dr Pepper Stadium. Eugene Holden was a main factor in the win. He went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for Carmel. The winner in relief was Harry Fox. He is now 4-0. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 5 hits in 5.1 innings. The 29-8 Apples have won 11 games in a row.

With Carmel leading 8-1 in the top of the eighth, Holden came up to bat against San Antonio pitcher Bobby Camacho. Holden hit a fastball to right for a grand slam home run. His 8th home run of the season put the Apples on top, 12-1.

"We're obviously playing with a lot of confidence," said Carmel manager Hi-yuan Pan.
