Saints Pin 3-1 Loss on Charleston
|
The St. Paul Saints and Charleston Panthers played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.
In a low-scoring affair between the St. Paul Saints and the Charleston Panthers, pitcher Alex Rabadan was the difference between victory and defeat. The St. Paul left-hander earned kudos in the 3-1 Saints win. The winner was Rabadan. He threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Micah Hawkridge.
The Saints got a big at-bat from shortstop Mike Fonnesbeck. For the game, Fonnesbeck went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave St. Paul a 3-1 lead.
"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said St. Paul skipper .
The loss makes Charleston 22-24.
