Escalante 3-for-4 as Gnats Squeeze Past Victoria
Nichols beat Victoria at The drakkar, eking out a 6-5 win. The win was due in large part to shortstop Rafael Escalante. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 4 times and driving in 2. Alejandro Cazares, now 1-2, was credited with the win in 1.1 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit, while striking out 2 and walking 1. Today's win puts Nichols at 17-27, while Victoria falls to 24-21.

Escalante had a game-changing triple in the top of the seventh. On a 1-1 fastball from Ruben Sierra, he banged a run-scoring triple to right-center, giving the Gnats a 4-3 lead. It was the 3rd triple of the year for Escalante.

"I was making good contact tonight," said Escalante.
