River Bandits Handle Birdwings, Nab 2-1 Win
|
The Hazleton Birdwings were defeated, 2-1, by the San Antonio River Bandits at Road Warriors Field, even though Justin Vasile pitched well for Hazleton. The River Bandits are now 26-15, while the Birdwings fall to 28-12.
San Antonio used the timely hitting of Cal Cochrane to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the River Bandits on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
San Antonio manager Lemn Onkwani praised his team's "energy."
