In a close game at Mount Royal Grounds, the Montreal Mounties edged the El Paso Mavericks, 5-4. Montreal center fielder Gene Johnson stood apart with his performance. He went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Picking up the save was Bill Wolfe, his 3rd. El Paso, with the loss, is 1-4.

With Montreal leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Johnson hit a fastball from Radhi Tuwile for a 3-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Mounties ahead, 4-0.

"No time for posing," said Johnson. "The next game will be here before you know it."
