River Chiefs Come Back Late to Top Lake Monsters, 8-4
|
The River Chiefs grabbed a win, 8-4, at Elks Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Okanagan pitcher Alex Armijo. Armijo went 8 innings and allowed 1 run. Ralph Petsche snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-1 on the season. Rick Ezell suffered the loss. The River Chiefs now own a record of 20-23.
Dan Edgington drew 1 walk for Chippewa. The 24-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the ninth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off Rick Ezell. It was his 8th walk of the season.
In comments to the Chippewa Observer, Edgington admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
