Randy Chandler was a vital contributor to the 9-6 Carmel victory over Nichols. The Apples left fielder was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The setback makes Nichols 23-37.

Carmel used a well-timed hit by Manuel Chaidez to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Apples ahead, 7-5. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Hi-yuan Pan said.
