Brownsville Beats San Antonio, 6-1
|
The Brownsville Bandits beat the San Antonio River Bandits, 6-1, at Dr Pepper Stadium. Jayden Fowler went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The 18-year old third baseman was a menace to San Antonio all day. The winning pitcher was Franklin Lucero. He tossed 82 pitches over 5.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits. Brownsville is now 21-32, San Antonio 31-22.
Steve Van Deventer was 1 for 3 with 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs for Brownsville. The 18-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a 2-run single off Alex Alvarado. It was his 46th hit of the season.
"We came in and did what we needed to do," said Brownsville manager Izumo Ikarashi.
