Vikings Suffer 2-0 Home Loss
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Carmel Apples and the Victoria Vikings, Lorenzo Ledesma, who is rated as the 93rd best prospect by BNN, proved to be the difference. The Carmel right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-0 Apples win. Ledesma got the win, improving to 5-3. He gave up 6 hits and walked 5 over 7.2 innings. He allowed no runs. Nick Fortenberry recorded the save, his 4th.
Tom Janes had a direct impact on the outcome. Janes contributed a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the top of the seventh inning to put Carmel up, 2-0.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Carmel skipper Hi-yuan Pan.
Carmel, at 33-20, holds down second place in the TML A Earl Weaver Division.
