Civics Get Clutch Win, 3-2
|
Mike Barrio could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Charleston Panthers lost, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Ottawa Civics at Franklin Mountains Field. Ottawa reliever Omar Sevilla was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Mike Barrio. Matt Daniello earned the save for Ottawa, his 11th.
The Civics beat the Panthers in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single John Reilly produced in the top of the eighth. Batting against Mike Barrio, Reilly gave his team the lead, 3-2, when he hit a run-scoring single.
In postgame remarks, Reilly applauded his team's "resolve."
Ottawa has rattled off 5 straight wins.
