Civics Down Warriors, 9-6
|
The Moose Jaw Warriors got a whale of a performance from second baseman Richard Hoskins, but the Ottawa Civics still prevailed, 9-6, in 10 innings. Hoskins was 2-4 with a home run, a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Ottawa reliever Greg Pond picked up the win, upping his record to 6-1. Carlos Cruz was saddled with the loss. The Civics sport a record of 52-19.
Alfonso Perez delivered a big hit for Ottawa. The catcher drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Civics ahead, 8-4. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"That's what these guys do," said Civics manager Eduardo Rosário. "They battle, they fight."
