River Bandits Score Late, Stun Sting, 4-2
|
The San Antonio River Bandits wanted a good start from Alex Alvarado -- and he delivered one. The result was a 4-2 San Antonio win over the Houston Sting at Dr Pepper Stadium. San Antonio reliever Nolan Maughan picked up the win. Nelson Zermeno took the loss for Houston. The 4th-place River Bandits lifted their record to 36-31.
San Antonio took a 4-2 lead on Will Hambleton's 2nd home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Hambleton hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Houston pitcher Nelson Zermeno visibly frustrated.
Hambleton called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
