The Moonbeam Martians withstood an impressive performance by San Angelo shortstop Darnell Kemp to defeat the Mustangs, 4-2, at Abbey Stadium. Kemp was 3-4 with a home run and a double. Rich Blaquiere earned his 5th save in 7 chances. Moonbeam has now won 5 in a row.

Alex Matos took San Angelo hurler Joe Berry deep in the bottom of the sixth. His solo home run put the Martians on top, 3-2. In all, Matos had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

Matos called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
