Blues Handed 7-2 Defeat
|
West Virginia turned a fine outing from starter Alan Tyree into a victory over the Memphis Blues at The Rain Forest. The final score was 7-2. Tyree, now 7-5, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 1 hit, while striking out 5, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. The win makes West Virginia 40-41.
Tony Vasquez had a big 2-run triple for the Dancin' Outlaws in the bottom of the fourth inning. With West Virginia leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Arturo Alvarez and swatted a triple to right. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Dancin' Outlaws ahead, 4-1.
"Today was a lot of fun," said Vasquez.
