Panthers Pin 8-3 Loss on Brownsville
|
The Charleston Panthers locked up a win at Franklin Mountains Field, knocking off the Brownsville Bandits, 8-3. On the mound for Charleston was right-hander Carlos Nunez. He played a major role in the triumph. The Panthers go to 25-60, putting them last in the TML HA Dick Williams Division.
Miguel Rangel had a big 2-run double for the Panthers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Charleston leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a slider from 20-year old right-handed pitcher Mario Garay and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Panthers ahead, 4-0.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Charleston manager Harry Howell.
