In a tight contest at The Pond, the Carmel Apples edged the Nichols Gnats by the score of 5-4 in 10 innings. Carmel right fielder Tom Ronca, who blasted 2 home runs, was a key contributor. Victor Aguilar, who is rated as the 85th best prospect by BNN, was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Junzo Yamabe. Kirk Davis notched his 6th save of the season.

Had Ronca not come through in the top of the tenth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Ronca hit a run-scoring single. The Apples took the lead, 5-4, and never looked back.

In postgame remarks, Ronca simply said: "Here's to a great win!"

Carmel is in second place in the TML A Earl Weaver Division with a record of 47-36.
