Seattle got a terrific game from left fielder Steve Svehla. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Havana, 6-5. Svehla was 4 for 4 with 4 singles and a walk. Havana reliever Tony Mireles got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Travis Reske was tagged with the loss. Havana is now 25-34, Seattle 25-32.

Juan Bahamon went 2-4 with 2 singles for Havana. The 27-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the top of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Dave Foster. It was his 22nd RBI of the season.

"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Bahamon, "one at-bat at a time."
