Sting Beat Hazleton, 7-6
|
The Houston Sting took Marshall Barrington's best shot and still were able to collect a win at Road Warriors Field. The final score had Houston getting past the Birdwings, 7-6, in 10 innings. Barrington over 5 innings allowed 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 9. Danny Umanzor, now 7-7, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 2 and walking 2. Getting the save was Kirk Benjamin, his 1st.
The Sting beat the Birdwings in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Mario Juarez produced in the top of the tenth. Batting against Alejandro Rubio, Juarez gave his team the lead, 7-6, when he hit a run-scoring single.
"There's a lot of good karma around our club," said winning manager Barnabé Bacm.
The Houston win streak is now 6 games.
