Dancin' Outlaws Beat NoBos, 3-0
|
The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of West Virginia fans at The Rain Forest.
West Virginia starter John Heyes put the Campo offense in a vise grip. The right-hander relied heavily on his sinker in leading the Dancin' Outlaws to a 3-0 win. Heyes, now 10-6, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 9, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Donzel Albertrani recorded the save, his 21st.
The Dancin' Outlaws got a big at-bat from second baseman Lorenzo Gonzales. For the game, Gonzales was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave West Virginia a 2-0 lead.
"Bottom line," said Campo skipper Adrián Cortés, "we didn't play well enough to win."
The third-place Dancin' Outlaws are 50-49.
