The Eugene Emeralds beat the Carmel Apples, 6-5, at Prefontaine Park. Chris Pope was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times. The 20-year old first baseman was a menace to Carmel all day. Eugene is now 38-47. Carmel is 58-26.

The decisive blow was delivered by Jamie Salerno in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 18-year old left-handed pitcher Jeff Gamble to win the game for Eugene. The home crowd went nuts.
