Blues Win, Robles scores 4 runs
|
The rain did not keep Memphis and Oconomowoc from finishing their game.
The Memphis Blues defeated the Oconomowoc Five O's, 10-7, in part because of right fielder Francisco Robles. Robles was 2 for 3 with a home run, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 3 for the Blues. The winning pitcher was Nick Marshall. He's now 8-1. He went 5.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits for the Blues. Picking up his 25th save was 23-year old left-handed pitcher Bobby Gottlieb.
Memphis used a well-timed hit by Randy Haines to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Blues ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We take it day by day here," said Haines, "and today was a good one for us."
The victory gives Memphis a record of 73-35.
