Honu Win Nail-Biter
The Hawaii Honu defeated the Mexico City Luchadores, 2-1, in 11 innings. Much of the credit belonged to catcher Paul Cavanaugh, who went 4 for 4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs for the Honu. Karl Molnar, who finished 3rd in the TML in saves with 36 last year, was the winner in relief. His record is now 4-0. The losing pitcher was Bill Douglas. Hawaii, at 32-26, sits in third place in the Thurman Munson League West Division.

The game came to a sudden end. In the bottom of the 11th, with two out, Cavanaugh hit a run-scoring single. It gave Hawaii the 2-1 walk-off win.

"It was terrific getting this win," Cavanaugh said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
