The St. Petersburg Pelicans pinned a convincing loss on the Carmel Apples, 9-3, at Billy Mathews Field. Joe Flory was a main factor in the win. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 times for St. Petersburg. With the win, St. Petersburg is 22-92.

Had Miguel Sandoval not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Sandoval hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Pelicans.

"Whenever I help the team," said Sandoval, "it sort of justifies my place on the roster."
