River Chiefs Pick Up 4-0 Road Win Over Baltimore
|
The Chippewa River Chiefs faced a tough opponent in Baltimore pitcher Cesar Figueroa, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Baltimore Stadium by a final score of 4-0. Figueroa went 8.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Dan Schmus, the winner, is now 4-7. He struck out 3 and walked 1 over 5.1 innings, while allowing no runs on 4 hits. The 'W' lifts Chippewa's record to 41-60.
Chippewa used a well-timed hit by Andres Jaimes to capture the win. The second baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the River Chiefs ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 2 at-bats, it was important.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Jaimes. "And not try to do too much."
