The performance of Billy Soss proved critical in helping Ottawa beat Kingwood, 9-3. The Civics designated hitter went 1-2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. John Haslam, who leads the TA in wins with 13, was the winning pitcher. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 1 run on 3 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Juan Melgosa recorded his 3rd save for Ottawa.

With Ottawa leading 6-1 in the bottom of the sixth, Soss batted against Kingwood pitcher Eddie Albares. Soss hit a changeup to left for a 3-run home run. His 19th home run of the season put the Civics on top, 9-1.

"No disrespect to the other team," said Ottawa manager Eduardo Rosário. "But it's nice to get an easy win."
