The Bel Air Princes beat the Hazleton Birdwings, 8-5, at Philip Banks Field. The Princes got a fine performance from right fielder Nobuhiko Yamamoto, who was 2 for 2 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Rowland Lester got credit for the save for Bel Air. It was his 9th of the year. Bel Air, at 72-52, sits in first place in the RCL HA Tommy Lasorda Division.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Luis Camacho came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Hazleton pitcher Hua-ding Shuai, he hit a 1-2 sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Bel Air on top, 6-5.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Yamamoto told the Bel Air Daily.
