Magicians Pin 8-5 Loss on Brisbane
|
The Baltimore Magicians withstood an impressive performance by Brisbane center fielder Victor Herbert to defeat the Bush Wackers, 8-5, at Baltimore Stadium. Herbert went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Baltimore reliever Cesar Figueroa snagged the win, upping his record to 7-6. Jose Ortegon shouldered the loss. The current losing streak for Brisbane has reached 6 games.
Erik Lambert had a big 3-run home run for the Magicians in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Baltimore trailing 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Jose Ortegon and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 10th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Magicians ahead, 3-1.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Lambert.
