| Vikings Squelch Emeralds Offense in Shutout Win | Pitcher Cesar Moreno was sensational for the Victoria Vikings in his team's 3-0 triumph over the Eugene Emeralds. Moreno received player of the game honors, while picking up the win. Moreno, now 19-6, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing no earned runs. Werner Jackman was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 12 of 13 save opportunities.
The Victoria dugout showed signs of unrest at times. But the Vikings put this one in the win column with some good pitching and some timely hitting at critical moments.
