The home crowd had a good time watching the Ottawa Civics and Victoria Vikings get after it.

The Victoria Vikings grabbed a win, 9-3, over the Ottawa Civics at The drakkar. Victoria left fielder Matt Cochran was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 4 runs. The winning pitcher was Chris Cox. He's now 6-8. He went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits for the Vikings. Domingo Diaz earned the save for Victoria.

The Civics had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Vikings going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old catcher Dylan Fleming came to the plate. Fleming hit a 3-run home run on a 1-0 screwball from Ottawa hurler Bobby Ocana. It was Fleming's 19th home run of the year.

"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Cochran.

Victoria's record now stands at 70-41, placing them second in the TML A Earl Weaver Division.
