Dancin' Outlaws Win, Now 66-46
|
West Virginia starter Sam Orton put the Charleston offense in a vise grip. The right-hander relied heavily on his curveball in leading the Dancin' Outlaws to a 4-0 win. Earning his 22nd save of the year was Donzel Albertrani. West Virginia is now 66-46, while Charleston is 49-63.
Pedro Florez had a big solo home run for the Dancin' Outlaws in the bottom of the fifth inning. With West Virginia leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a changeup from Travis Hart and swatted a home run to right-center. It was his 2nd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Dancin' Outlaws ahead, 2-0.
"The key for me has just been attacking the zone and hitting my spots. When I'm throwing strikes and not falling behind in counts, those are the days when I pitch really good," said Orton.
