Martians Keep Chugging, Win, 6-5
|
The Moonbeam Martians bumped off the Kingwood Knights, 6-5, at Stable Park. Bobby Harper hit 2 singles and 1 double. He also had 2 runs batted in. Moonbeam reliever Walt Edwards picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Ron Elliott absorbed the loss. Kingwood has now lost 4 consecutive games.
Moonbeam used the timely hitting of Hunter Heath to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Martians on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"You just play the game as right as you can and see where you end up," said Martians manager Pedro Pérez.
