The Brownsville Bandits defeated the Hazleton Birdwings by the score of 15-6, with the biggest share of the credit going to right fielder Carlos Ruiz. Ruiz was 4-5 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Bandits on the day. Brownsville pitcher Fernando Valdivia earned the win, hiking his record to 5-3. Hua-ding Shuai suffered the loss. Hazleton is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 8 in a row.

Alan Kendrick produced at a critical juncture for Brownsville. It happened in the top of the eighth with Jesus Gomez on the mound and Brownsville leading 7-6. That's when the 24-year old left fielder Kendrick drew a walk, driving in 1 run.

"I know everybody in here is putting in the work," said Hazleton manager Roberto Flores. "It's just not paying off."
