The San Antonio River Bandits could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Alex Torres into a win. Instead, the Brownsville Bandits prevailed, 4-2. Torres threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball. Justin Andes earned his 2nd save, after closing out the game. The Bandits lead the RCL A Tommy Lasorda Division by a game.
Kyle Brunner had a big solo home run for the Bandits in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Brownsville leading 3-2 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from Alex Torres, who is tied for 8th in the RA in complete games with 1, and punished it. The result was his 21st home run of the season, which put the Bandits on top, 4-2.
In postgame remarks, Brunner hailed his team's "single-minded determination."
