The Carmel Apples topped the San Angelo Mustangs, 7-4, with youngster Tom Ronca playing a key role. Ronca was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Apples in the win. Carmel reliever Willis Paulino picked up the win, upping his record to 12-4. Luis Acosta absorbed the loss. David Lewis recorded the save for Carmel, his 8th of the season.

With Carmel leading 1-0 in the top of the third, Ronca hit a curveball from Luis Acosta for a 2-run home run. It was his 26th home run of the season and put the Apples ahead, 3-0.

"When their pitchers are leaving stuff over the heart of the plate, we're not missing it," said Carmel manager Hi-yuan Pan.

The Apples have now won 8 straight.
