Desjardins Goes Deep Twice, Helps Apples Top Warriors, 15-8
Cliff Desjardins was a vital contributor to the 15-8 Carmel victory over Moose Jaw. The Apples center fielder went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Harry Fox, 9-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits in 5.1 innings. Ruben Rivas picked up the save, his 4th.

Ruben Covarrubias had a big 2-run double for the Apples in the bottom of the second inning. With Carmel trailing 4-3 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a curveball from Roberto de Alba, who is tied for 10th in the RA in wins with 9, and swatted a double to right. It was his 15th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Apples ahead, 5-4.

"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," Covarrubias said in postgame remarks. "Soon enough, the finish line will be in sight."
