Pelicans Collect 6-1 Win Versus Bel Air
|
Starting pitcher Cameron Childress had a solid game. He was a big reason the St. Petersburg Pelicans throttled the Bel Air Princes, 6-1. Childress picked up the win for St. Petersburg, going 5 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 2-14. The win cannot erase the fact that St. Petersburg still has a disappointing 40-91 record.
St. Petersburg used a clutch at-bat from Patrick Branum to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Pelicans ahead, 5-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"It's a mindset," said Childress. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
