River Chiefs Absorb 7-4 Loss at Stable Park
|
The Kingwood Knights dumped the Chippewa River Chiefs, 7-4, in large part due to catcher Salvador Guzman. On the day, Guzman went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 4 RBI for the Knights. The winning pitcher was Bobby Cazares. His record now stands at 5-7. The left-hander went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits for the Knights. Omar Cedeno, credited with the save, is now 24 for 30 in save opportunities.
Lyle Reid had a big run-scoring double for the Knights in the bottom of the third inning. With Kingwood leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Ralph Petsche and swatted a double to left. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Knights ahead, 2-0.
Reid said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
The Kingwood win streak is now 4 games.
