The Carmel Apples beat the Brownsville Bandits, 8-5, at BLM Stadium. Bobby Churchill went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 times. The 22-year old first baseman was a menace to Brownsville all day. Carmel reliever Juan Aldana was the winner. His record is now 11-9. Alex Martinez took the loss. Jeff Gamble recorded the save, his 22nd.

Ryan Schneck hit a run-scoring triple off Alex Martinez in the bottom of the fifth, which put the Apples in front, 2-1. Schneck had 1 walk, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 1 for 4.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Hi-yuan Pan said.

With the win, the Apples have a record of 81-73.
