The Nichols Gnats outlasted the Carmel Apples, 13-12, in 10 innings. Eduardo Valencia provided some punch at the plate for Nichols. He was 2-4 with 2 home runs, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice. Rafael Moreno, now 5-0, was credited with the win in 0.1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 1. By defeating Carmel, the third-place Gnats improved to 82-51.

The Gnats were down to their final out when pinch hitter John Spencer turned a 3-1 fastball from Taylor Allmon into a 2-run single. The walk-off single made the The Pond crowd go wild.

"It was one of those games where both teams were swinging the bat well," Spencer said.
